Show r t q Kay Haws Hawl newly appointed Director of the Uintah Youth Camp Mr Hawl wee Wal Director last year i it t d If Joe Jorgensen returns as al director of Hill HUl Creek Youth Camp after an eb ab lance sence of one year n He also allO temp camp In 1960 Utes Set Summer Y Youth Camps New Directors Chosen for Year Another year of superb Youth Camping Is in the plan ping stage for lor youngsters this year Directors and assistant directors were selected and dates set for opening of the camps at Uintah Canyon and at mil Creek during a recent meeting of the Youth Camp Committee which is headed by Francis McKinley diree tor of community services Chosen to direct the Uinta Youth Camp was Kay Haws who has been assistant tor of the camp the past two summers whIle Pete Couch was director Mr Haws is teaching school In Salt Lake City nt at the stewart School and has shown his tiona as a director during the past two summers Gordon Eldredge coach and physical education teacher at Junior High School was name nam- named td ed assistant director lIe work work- Unit Leader and is a resident of Roosevelt Joe Jorgensen was selected to direct the Hill Creek Camp Mr Jorgensen had been a dir ector of the camp at hill hillCreek Creek two years ago and has been furthering his education but has bas accepted this appoint ment for the summer Mr Jorgensen also suggested two people for cooks at the camp They are Ed Kozlowsky for cook and Bob Gamer assist ant cook Their qualifications seemed very adequate find nd so their employment on Mr Jor Jor- Jor Jorgenson's genson's recommendation was approved ved by the committee Jim Thomas University of Utah basketball star was sel to be the assistant director tor at lUll Hill Creek Mr Thomas also saw service at the Camp last summer The remedial education pro gram will be continued at the camps again this summer Some modification is consider ed cd and some of the classes may be held at the Uintah Camp The Camp will open June 10 and continue for eight weeks without a break Then alter after August 3 the camp may be used for activities of groups which are sponsored by the Ute Tribe II if there are other groups then wishing to use the camp their Lions will be considered Ap of these groups will willbe willbe be considered and time olio allo to them at the next meting meeting of the Committee which is set for May 17 The personnel committee reported a shortage of men applicants as Unit leaders i They are seeking applications from seniors In college but are getting mostly applications from juniors |
