| Show I Spotlighting UTAH I Utah Story Told In Washington D C Drawing wide attention in Washington D C is an elaborate elaborate bythe rate Utah exhibit sponsored by the Library of Congress in the rotunda of the Capitol building The Items in the exhibit have been drawn from the library's almost Inexhaustible files from the national archives state war and other departments and ana and from the files Of dl the Geological Survey Many of the historical documents are on exhibition for the first time especially an array of oil maps tracing the de de- de development development of the Utah country from the days of the earliest ex ex- ex explorers explorers The main exhibit oc oc- oc occupies 34 cases and the photo photo- photographic graphic display of early Utah Indians made by J K Killers Hillers of the U S Geological Survey as early as 1879 occupies the same amount of space The story of Brigham Youngs Young's first trek to Salt Lake valley in 1847 Is recalled by an interest- interest interestIng interestIng interesting Ing array of documents and data on exhibition Old books as well as lis Harpers Harper's Weekly and other magazines of the fifties which told much of early Utah life have been assembled The com ing of the railroad the driving of the golden spike and educational educational development of the state down to the present time is de de- depicted depicted along with the states state's agriculture and mineral develop develop- developments ments menns The exhibit has probably the largest display of Utah music ever gathered together folklore songs made famous during the trek across the plains This Thil Utah exhibit will be on display throughout the entire summer er in to the nations nation's capitol |
