Show X GREEN RIVER WITHDRAWAL Is proposed for areas from Little Hole to the Utah Colorado state line to protect for scenic area and to Insure preservation of natural beauty of the area adjacent to the Green River Proposed Green River Raver meetings set The Bureau of Land Management has proposed to place a protective withdrawal on acres of national resource lands along the upper Green River The proposed withdrawal includes lands within sk mile of either side of the Green River between Little Hole and the Utah-Colorado Utah state line in Daggett County TWO J PUBLIC meetings are scheduled to discuss the proposal and receive input from interested citizens groups or or other agencies The first will be bein bein bein in Manila ManUa on May 29 at pm p.m. in the Daggett County Cour Cour- The second will be held heldon on May 30 at pm p.m. In the auditorium of the Uintah County Courthouse The purpose of the proposed withdrawal is to protect this scenic area from activities that could damage impair or destroy the beauty of lands adjacent to the river The proposed withdrawal will preclude appropriation under the public land laws including the mining laws surface use and occupancy under the mineral leasing laws including seismography exploration but not from leasing under the mineral leasing laws Other uses such as livestock grazing wildlife production huntin hunting and fishing recreation camping river floating etc ways rights and watershed protection willbe will willbe willbe be permitted as long as they do donot donot donot not detract from the natural beauty of the area Private and state lands would not be effected effected ef ef- ef by the proposed with with- The area along this stretch of the Green River has outstanding outstanding out out- standing scenic beauty It is currently receiving an estimated visitor days use annually |
