Show 1 r rt t JIlt lL IL J 1 MARSHA EATON returned mis mist Marsha Eaton Ends Argentina Mission Marsha Eaton daughter of Mr and Mrs Wayne Eaton of Vernal flew to Salt Lake City January 14 then came cameto cameto cameto to Vernal with her parents Saturday after serving a year two mission in inthe inthe inthe the Argentine North Mission Miss Eaton will give Her filer mission report report re re- re port Sunday at pm p.m. in Vernal Sixth Ward SHE SERVED in the cities of Mendoza Mendoza Men Men- doza Cordoba and Salta and the surrounding surrounding sur sur- rounding area She said the church is growing there fast Cordoba the mission home headquarters tel's boasts five church branches Salta a city in a valley surrounded by mountains mountains moun moun- has one branch and Mendoza has several In the Argentine North Mission about missionaries are presently serving with 14 lady missionaries at the time of Miss Eaton's release At one time 24 lady missionaries were in the area MISS EATON stated about half of the present lady missionaries are native of South America The larger per cent of the success in the mission is due to the I Care Family program Through this the members members mem memo bers bels learn to be missionaries and they give their referrals to the missionaries In this way the missionaries use more time teaching and less time looking for contacts More baptisms come from the referrals from members of each area This is a very effective program Mendoza has a number of wine factories factories fac fac- t tories ries and nd grape vineyards In Cordoba automobile factories are a major indus indus- try Sugar cane and tobacco are grown in Salta The people are warm and friendly with families living closely together The ladies are skillful with their hands knitting doing etc The missionary said the people in Argentina are predominantly rich or poor with very few in the middle class Cobblestone streets are common throughout the country and sidewalks are made from a form of rock tile Most people ride bikes or drive older cars Miss Eaton will leave Vernal in February February Feb Feb- to begin working in the personnel department of the Church business offices She plans to take refresher courses courses cour cour- ses at the Business College in stenography She is a graduate of Uintah High School and attended the Business College and was formerly employed at atThe atThe The Vernal Express f fj j |
