Show v I y t P Pa a r OF THE YEAR Mrs Nile Ainge shown here with her husband was selected as Uintah Cow elle of the Year Cow Belles Fete Mrs Nile Ainge Mrs Nile Ainge of ot Jensen has been selected of ot the Year by the Uintah Her name will be sent to the state to be entered inthe in inthe inthe the state contest She was chosen because be cause of her outstanding characteristics and participation in the organ organ- MRS AINGE was born on the White WhiteRiver WhiteRiver WhiteRiver River in Colorado a n daughter of James 0 0 O. and Virda Banta Fletcher She started schooling at the age of five in ina a room one-room school house at Boise Creek now now known as Idaho Creek Colorado 10 miles from her home I Her lIer father owned cattle and she and her brother did most of the ilie as as' as her father had employment on the state slate road and was away from home most ost summers summers THEIR HOME was a three-room three log house house with a dirt roof and dobbing in inthe inthe inthe the the cracks between the logs Her mother mother mo mo- ther pasted newspapers and magazines on on the walls for warmth and tacked white muslin on the ceiling Her father would go to Meeker twice a year with team and wagon and bring back supplies to last for six months They also went to where the Staley Mine is now loc located ted with her father to get their winters winter's coal WHEN SHE was 11 years old she slie and her m mother brothers and sisters moved to Florida for her mothers mother's health Their father remained in Colorado to look after their interests there They lived at Cocoa Flo Florida ida the first summer now known as Camp Kennedy Th That t fall they moved to Apopka Florida where she attended school While they lived there she had her first automobile ride in a Model T T. T saw her first silent movie and nd attended her first church meeting IN THE summer of 1914 they received word that her father was seriously ill so so they sold their home and returned to Meeker Her father died in November of f that year and her mother died the folio fol io After her mothers mother's s death an uncle Grant Fletcher took care of her until she went to Jensen to live with her sister sister sis sis- ter ter Mrs Bert Leafy Wilkins Wilkins' IT WAS there she met her husband Nile Ainge They were married April 6 6 1916 in Vernal The first year of their married life they lived on on a r ranch and owned a herd of cattle They lived several sev sew eral ral years on Blue Mountain They took their wheat to the flour mill millin millin millin in Vernal where they received in return flour germade and feed for their pigs They churned their own own butter baked all their bread and made their own laundry laundry laun laun- dry soap The washing was done in a tub with a washboard There was no electricity so to do Ironing irons were heated on a wood stove THEY MOVED to Linwood near ManHa Manila Manila Man Man- ila Ha in the spring of 1927 where they lived jived for five years During World War II II Mr and Mrs Ainge and youngest daughter aughter Joye went to Riverside California California Cali- Cali fornia where both were employed at Lockheed Defense Plant In the spring of 1945 they returned to Jensen where they have since resided They have seven living children Shirley Ainge inge and Mrs Jay Joye Haslem Ver lal al George Ainge Mrs Hoyle Rose Rase Robinson and Mrs 1 George Joan Gross Jensen rensen Mrs 1 Morgan Leafy Gardner Stanton California and Grant Ainge Sleeker Meeker THEY HAVE 17 grandchildren 20 reat grandchildren four step grandchild ren en and 10 step great great grandchildren grandchildren Chree grandsons Gary N. N and Harold G G. G tinge inge sons of Mr 1 and Mrs Shirley tinge inge and Ronald Ainge son of Mr and Mrs Grant Ainge have preceded them in death Mr 1 Ainge was Utah State Brand Inspector Inspector In In- for 18 years During this time Mrs Ainge was employed for about 10 years at the lunchroom of the Vernal Sale Barn MRS AINGE is a past president and past secretary of the Uintah She was also aiso correspondent for The Vernal Ver Ver- nal Express for over 15 years Mr Ainge is 75 and Mrs Ainge ts Is 72 They are both members rs of the e S Chur Church and ind enjOy y riding horses Their iS 1966 children for their h honored them at a reception inception in wedding anniversary the JEY THEY Northwestern HAVE traveled In several of states and to Mexico |
