Show Ift 4 i r 7 t s r s st t M II COORDINATORS of Indian students student's for the Placement Service of the IDS Church II In Vernal are Paul Jensen left Uintah Stake High Councilor with his students Sandi Sand Roper and Marita James and Marion Dalene Ashley Stake High Councilor and his student Ma Marcella reel la Clark Indian Placement Students Return To Local Families two Forty Navajo and two flops Indian students recently arrived from Arizona and New Mexico to be united with their foster families There are 44 students living in Vernal with a total of nearly 80 students scattered throughout the Uintah Basin Dasin reported Steven Francom coordinator of Church Indian Placement Service THE STUDENTS will remain in the area throughout the school year after which they Uley will be returned to their natural parents for the summer Each year they return to the area to be reunited reunited reunited re re- re- re united with their foster families They range in age from 8 8 to 18 18 There are arc over students participating participating in the Church Indian Placement Placement Place Place- ment program throughout the Western States Georgia and parts of Canada Some 65 Ute Indians also participate in the program In Idaho Y j- j the students display them theiS t talents len in n academics s music drama drama an ahl J handicrafts and compete against each ead other on a regional and a a total LD Church basis Last spring an an all all youth conference was held in the Palace and Valley Music Hail Hall over 1000 Indian student participant from throughout the program The foster families families in the placement program apply on n a volunteer a v lunt er b basis sis wit no financial assistance being given fr from m the Church The The fhe Indian Placement Service i is a pa part t cf of the total S Church Social Service Program and is coordinated in the Uintah Basin by Steven Francom l living in Vernal |
