Show Multi-Million Multi Dollar Tunnel Bids Readied The Bureau of Reclamation is calling for bids to construct the Currant and Layout tunnels which are part of the Strawberry Complex that will divert water from the Uinta Mountains into Strawberry Reservoir THE SPECIFICATIONS will be ready for mailing September mailing September 10 and bids will willbe willbe willbe be opened at 10 a am a.m. m October 15 in the Duchesne Elementary School auditorium Estimated cost of the project is between between be be- tween 7 million and 15 million MAJOR FEATURES of the project will be excavation and concrete lining of the mile long Currant tunnel and the 32 mile long Layout tunnel Also included are linear feet of 12 through 30 inch diameter pipe for pipelines and structures and construction construe tion of a diversion dam stream inlet structures and gauging stations THE SUCCESSFUL bidder will have 1400 days to complete the project The tunnels can be made by machine boring or drilling and blasting These two tunnels will transport water from Currant Creek Reservoir which will be built soon through the recently completed Water Hollow tunnel into Strawberry Reservoir THE STRAWBERRY Aqueduct will eventually reach Upper Stillwater Reservoir Re Re- on Rock Creek and carry water from that creek and the Duchesne River through several other tunnels into the enlarged Strawberry Reservoir Mr and Mrs Ralph A A.
