Show lJ ems 7 Uintah District District- Adopts Ado is Community School Plan The Community School Program has been adopted by the Uintah School District District Dis Dis- Board of Education and Coach Ted Taylor has been appointed director of the program according to Ashel Evans district superintendent Patterned after the Mott Foundation sponsored Community Schools of Flint Michigan the goal Is total utilization of school facilities for physical mental men tal tat and social betterment of Uintah County residents THE DECISION to implement the program program pro pro- gram came after much investigation and study including a visit made to Flint by Superintendent Evans and Dr Jack Sells Seitz board member who traveled traveled tra tra- with a group of educators from Utah to learn of the effectiveness of total community community school cooperation The opportunity to apply for Mott Foundation funds to help initiate community community com com- schools was offered the school districts of Utah Uintah's application was prepared by Philip Ellis district director of pupil personnel and guidance services and was one of four in the state to be accepted for funding MR T TAYLOR vioR wl will be in Flint for two weeks in November to attend workshops workshops work work- shops and receive additional help with program planning and will spend four weeks at Brigham Young University in Provo where he will study under the direction of Dr Israel Heaton director of the Mott Program for Utah A community school recreation program program pro pro- gram began this week which includes slim trim for women Monday and Thursday in the weight room of Uintah High at 6 p pm p.m. m businessmen's weight conditioning Monday at 8 in the weight room weight weightlifting lifting lilting for men Tuesday and Thursday at 8 in the weight room Also family night Wednesdays at 6 30 in the Uintah High gymnasium gym recreation Saturday at 2 p pm p.m. m in inthe the Uintah High gym and story telling Saturday Saturday Satur day at 2 at Uintah High THE SLIM trim class is designed with women's weight conditioning in mind The new universal gym will willbe be utilized to tighten muscles following warm warm warm-up up exercises This will also be an excellent pre skiing pre skiing conditioning class The businessmen's weight conditioning class will give this group a chance for strenuous physical activity Some COACH TED TAYLOR new community community com com- program director exercises and mild games will be in included eluded THE WEIGHT training program is fo for formen formen men who want a vigorous weight lifting program for the purpose of Improvement improvement improve Improve- ment and development of the physical body Family night is designed for those who will participate as a family group The entire gymnasium will be utilized for this with o i including trampoline trampoline tram tram tram- poline long horse side horse balance balanc beam basketball badminton table tennis tennis ten ten- nis and ring games for younger children child child- ren DURING THE hours of 2 26 6 Saturdays the gym will be open for everyone's use Gym shoes will be required The story telling program is an opportunity opportunity op op- for the younger children to hear old favorites and meet new book friends THERE IS no charge for the family night Saturday open gym or story telling tell tell- ing Small fees will be charged the theother theother theother other groups Additional information may be received received ed by calling Ted Taylor community school director at Uintah High School |
