J and Esther Dunster Young He moved to Ashley Valley with his family in 1887 where he grew up and attended school After attending the Brigham Young Academy in Provo from 1899 to 1900 he served a three- three year mission for the Church He married Charlotte May Pope August 19 1903 in the Salt Lake Temple They had three sons Kermit E. E Salt Lake City Lowell J. J Buena Park California and Gordon 0 O. Buhl Id Idaho ho Mrs Young died February 14 1913 HE liE MARRIED Effie Lyon Huffman in the Salt Lake Temple December 8 S 1915 and gained a stepdaughter Mrs Byron S. S Clela Collett Duchesne two daughters Mrs Elton J. J Kalma Kendrick Buhl Idaho and Mrs Dean DOn Bird Kimberly Idaho and a son Selwyn L. L Redmond Washington The couple divorced in 1937 He married his present wife Mittie Millie Gilbert Moore February 29 1940 in the Temple Stepsons and daughters from this union include Harvey T. T Moore Las Vegas Lowell J J. J Moore Granada Hills California Lt LaVoy Moore who was later killed in Salt Lake City Barbara Richardson Richardson Richar Salt Lake City Mrs Richard B B. B Sylvia Orton Springfield Massachusetts One son Edward G G. G Young of Salt Lake City was born to the couple MR MH YOUNG served as acting postmaster and assistant postmaster in the early lIe He also served two terms as county treasurer in Uintah County from 1906 to 1910 While in this office he purchased the first adding machine in Uintah County and installed the latest system of accounting at that time December 13 1910 he was appointed postmaster and served through January of 1915 He was reappointed to that office in 1920 and served until 1932 He also served in the capacity of Vernal City treasurer accountant accountant accountant ac ac- ac- ac countant and secretary of Ashley operative Co-operative Company and secretary of Ashley Upper Irrigation Company and Ashley Valley Reservoir Company for fora a number of years MR YOUNG moved to Salt Lake City where he was associated with Mutual Benefit H alth Acc Accident dent Company and was senior clerk in the military post office in Kearns until 1947 when the service was discontinued After leaving the military postal service Mr Young was raising mink for several years He did landscaping in Salt Lake County Fair Grounds then worked for the Salt Lake Recreation Department for 18 IS years until his retirement As a member of the Church he served in several capacities Sunday school and superintendents ward clerk Uintah Stake Sunday School superintendent and stake secretary of Sunday Schools in Cottonwood Stake MR YOUNG is a former member of the Vernal Lions Club and a charter member of the South Cottonwood Lions Club and treasurer for 10 years A sister Mrs Frank Ella resides in Vernal and two sisters reside in Murray and Salt Lake City He also has 19 grandchildren and 33 great great grandchildren Mrs Youngs Young's family consists of 18 IS grandchildren 19 great great- grandchildren and one great- great great grandchild ld |
