Show REMEMBER BY 4 BY THE OLD TIMER From Pear Pearlie lie Davis De- De DeI DeRidder Ridder La I am not a real I old timer but I dor first school was a big room with a cloak room on each side of the front door one for the girls one for the boys We got ot water from a spring carrying it in buckets Each child had his or her own gl glass ass for drinking We also carried our lunch in buckets At noon we took our lunches outside under some huge mulberry trees After lunch we played in a pine thicket amusing ourselves by weaving pine needles There was a big wood wood- burning heater in the center of the room I remember one very I cold day the pipe fell from the heater and hit me on the head I It did not hurt very much but it scared me terribly We made chains from paper using paste made from flour and used stencils for drawing and lettering We walked more than a mile mUe mileto to and from school When we arrived at home in the after after- afternoons a baked sweet potato sure went fine Our lunches in those days were made from everyday rood food contribution Ia fa tnt column 10 loThe ne Old Ord emery a |
