Show Tee Pee Talk By Doug Jensen Uintah high School started off the week of November 7 with an assembly presented by our representatives to Girls I State and Boys State The assem assembly bly began with a film about America and its won hard freedom The film was entitled A Free People From this point the assembly consisted of talks given by De Dc- Armon Batty and Louise Me Mc- McConkie Conkle Conkie both representatives of Boys and Girls State Ruth and Dr Edwin L Pe- Pe Peterson terson DeArmon discussed the purr pur poses of Boys State and Louise discussed the benefits of Girls State and Dr Edwin Peterson who is a professor at utah State University gave a stirring speech on The assembly was a surprise to many who actually expected it to be a lull dull program November 7 marked the be be- be beginning ginning of basketball tryouts with about sixty boys signing up The following boys were chosen to pl play y varsity basketball basket basket- basketball ball Richard Walker Robert Walker Doug Jensen Doug Chi vcrs vers Barry Hatch Roger Pet Pet- Peterson erson Duane Hamburg Mark Henline Bruce Nelson Brent i Jones and Rex Hadlock The week ended with report cards being handed out Sorrow was abundant and tears flowed freely throughout the halls There were a few students who were happy but they were a small gro group p Oh well wel l students vent hone home to enjoy tr thir ir week week- weekend end Monday came bringing a anew anew new day In a new week |
