Show u uRUTH RUTH A HASLEM hon hon- honored honored ored Ruth A Haslein Honored by Vernal The Vernal honored Mrs Ruth Adele Perkins Haslem of Jensen as the Woman of the Month at their dinner meeting held Wednesday night at the Cafe Mrs Haslem was born in Jackson New Hampshire gra gra- gra graduated from the Melrose High School Melrose Mass and State Mass She taught school In Mas Mas- Mas Massachusetts and New Hampshire She also taught for two years for the American Missionary As As- As Association in North Carolina and Texas AT THE END of World War WarI I Mrs Haslem went to Smyrna Asia Minor for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Mission to train tea tea tea- teachers chers in the education depart depart- department ment of the American Collegiate Institute which was a Junior College incorporated by the Mas Mas- Mas Massachusetts legislature Mrs Haslem was executive secretary for the Webster Webster Dud Dud Icy ley Girls Club of Webster Mass for two years She taught And And- ent History in the H Hale le Jr High School in New Britain Conn for three years On October 13 1928 1926 she mar mar- marred red ried Joseph Haslem of Jensen in Bedford Mass and arrived in utah In late November MR AND MRS Haslem have have- two sons Samuel Perkins Has Has- Hashem hem lem who is in the extension service of the Colorado State University living In Norwood Colo and he has three child child- children ren and Joseph Jackson Has Has- Haslem lem in the B LM at Farming Farming- Farmington ton New Mex and he has two tWI children Other accomplishments or of Mrs Haslem include serving re re- re repeatedly as PTA president in Jensen was at one time Region Region- Regional al Director for the State PTA served 14 years on the Uintah Board of Education was a member of utah's delegation t to the White House Conference for children and youth in 1960 she sheran sheran ran the Jensen Post Office for seven seven years two as acting postmaster post post- postmaster master and five as postmaster MRS HASLEM has done a great deal for children hildren and has inspired many in the field of art art- This year was the year she has been a H 4 4 H lea der At present she is on the Uintah County library board and andis andis is also on the board of directors tors of The Little Gallery of Arts |
