Show RECREATION ACTIVITY Recreation Basketball Tourney Successful Wednesday night Supt. Paul S. Rose and Frank Orton from the Salt Lake County Recreation Department were guests of the Bingham Lions Club, later at-' at-' tending the recreation basketball tournament held in the Civic j Center gym. A trophy was presented pre-sented to the winners of each division Pee Wee, Junior, and Senior, by the Lions Club. In the Pee Wee league the Sea Devils 'beat out the Thunder Birds 24 to 15, in the Junior division di-vision it was the C.Y.O. 27, Bucks All Stars 25, and in the Senior division the Big B's nosed out Buck's Seniors 34 to 31. As the team from Lark had showed the best in sportsmanship sportsman-ship during the entire season, they were presented a trophy by the Lions. During regular league play, the Red Hots in the Pee Wee lea-'gue lea-'gue won the first and second halves, and the Copperfield Pirates Pir-ates were tops in the other league. lea-gue. Players of these two teams were presented individual gold plated basketballs. Charles Bates was in charge of the recreation basketball program pro-gram at the Civic Center, which has had a very successful year. Assisting him were Tommy James, Buck Leyba and Ken Smith. Since last October average aver-age daily attendance has been from 100 to 140 youngsters. BASKETBALL DANCE 1 SLATED APRIL U A basketball dance is scheduled sched-uled to be held next Wednesday, April 11. Each year following the recreation basketball tournament the Lions Club have sponsored a dance. This year it will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for youngsters up to the sixth grade, and from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. for the Junior and Senior high school students. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold by parents of the children. All parents are invited to come and see the children have their fun. |
