Show I 1 dedication of new whiterocks chapel is is held the new Whiter Aks ward chapel officially was dedicated as the climaxing feature of roosevelt stake quarterly conference held recently construction of the chapel began june 2 1949 following a decided need nea tor for a chapel which arose with the organization of the whiterocks ward sunday nov 7 1948 the new ward was outlined to include the people of farm creek reek who had previously b be 64 longed to the bennett ltd ward roosevelt stake people ol 01 the immediate immediate whiterocks Whlter ock area the edge of thu the bench was to be the east boundary I 1 once work had begun effort was unfailing until the chapel was completed recently and i dedicated at the last conference session I 1 to hold church services pending completion of the chapel chape L the bisho bishopric first lint secured the consent of supt bupt roy S adams of the whiterocks Whlter indian school to hold the first meeting in the school gymnasium the sunday following follow ng formation of the ward that first attendance number was father joseph hogben of the EF episcopal church then gave the i b bishopric hohri permission to hold meetings in the community hall adjoining the church building until the close of the year beginning in january 1049 1949 mr adams obtained permission for the wh whiterocks White I 1 ward to vau use the school 10 i gymnasium from lum am until 2 pm on sundays i sunday school the priesthood meetings and sacrament meet in ings a were held at that time in the meantime everything I 1 possible isible wa was being done by 90 stake take and ward vard officers to obtain land on which to erect the new chapel the problem proved difficult as au all land in the Whlter coka area Is owned by the U S department of indian affairs and is not for sale negotiations tiati ons for a lease on the required land consumed considerable time but it was revealed in the t bishops meeting of feb 9 that a lease for the land and had abeen been signed by fill committee members 1 chapel construction work commenced june 2 with merrill R asmus sien engaged as building supervisor with oil products needed in crea creakingly singly to power farm the soli soil agriculture la Is further strengthened by gains in productive and refining capacities in the domestic oil industry wal lace said he cited a recent statement by frank M porter president of the american petroleum institute sti tute who said the american oil industry Is better prepared today than ever before to |
