| Show UTAH P L L CO I 1 OBTAIN OPTION ON lobai PLANT WOULD TAKE OVER LOCAL POW ER ell COMPANY AND MAKE IT A PART OP OF IMMENSE caidin OF PLANTS EXPENDING LARGE SUMS FOR NEED ED 04 representatives of the utah pa power yr and light company of salt lahe lake city have been in vernal arranging for the purchase ot of the vernal light company properties at a meeting of the directors of the local company it was decided to give the salt lake firm an option for the purchase of the plant which would expire june 30 1926 this time is given to take care of a process of negotiation which Is necessary necess aryIt if the deal be consummated there Is an increasing need for more capital to carry on the local plant and to meet the requirements of the plant in serving the customers it will be necessary to expend approximately in order to increase the volume of output the plant at present haa ha a capacity of horsepower which has never been reached due to the fact that the head of water now used will not developed dev elope it it if this much power could be developed it would be ample to supply the needs of the customers for some time to come in ln order to reach this capacity it will be necessary to have bave a double head of water or the present head will have to be doubled this is possible by piping in ju a wood flume the water direct from the springs which would be a distance of approximately one halt half mile by bluming the water twice the amount of force Is expended when the water reaches the plant that it would he be in canal or ditch to construct this flume alone would entail an expenditure ot over the plant was constructed about seventeen years ago and at that time had a capacity of horsepower new machinery and equipment hae has been added ed from time to lime time and when the large generator was installed some time ago the capacity was far in excess ot the possibility of developing the head of water available this was due to the fact that the company proposed in the near future to instruct the flume and double the head bead of water and thereby reach the maximum capacity undoubtedly the utah power and light company will immediately take steps to remedy this problem 6 and nd expend sufficient capital to double the head bead of water so there will be a surplus of voltage instead of an overloaded plant |
