Show CRAIG commercial U r D V IAL CLUB PRESIDENT VISITS OUR CITY THAT commercial CLUBS GL r BEHIND MOVEMENT ING G THROUGH ROUTE ACROSS monday evening attorney E G vanatta president of the craig colo commercial club accompanied by P F W arrived in vernal mr vanatta waa was busy tuesday interviewing ter viewing the vernal business men relative to a get together movement of tho the uintah basin commercial clubs seeking a through route railroad through the basin touching duchesne vernal and craig the craig people are very much opposed to me denver and rio grande proposed route to vernal from soldier summit believing that it would mean the cutting out the basin without getting a through rail route relative to the dotsero dottero cutoff mr vanatta V anatta la Is very much in doubt if it were granted that the D and 11 G or any other road would ever build into the basin especially would the bamberger road fail fall to make the through route they now propose from provo to craig he also stated that senator phipps of ot colorado was opposed to the dottero dotsero cutoff although be he had been quoted as saying he was tor for the cutoff mr ii phipps is in egypt at the present time and mr air vanatta says can be quoted any way to suit the pleasure of any interest he further stated mr phipps Is a heavy beavy owner in the tunnel bonds and would naturally be against the dottero cutoff another thing mr vanatta stated was that the bamberger damberger interests had only secured a right to the state line and had they built in would have been at the mercy of the interstate commerce commission action and unless they had acted favorable would have had to transfer all freight at the state line thia this would bo be overcome by the granting of the through line by the commission it is the intention of the craig commercial club to have a meeting of the interstate commerce coromis 1 slon sion held at craig and they will ini vite them to go over the entire i proposed routes and hold meetings at vernal and other basin towns tons mr vanatta urged the action of the commercial clubs of the basin towns to be vigorous and decisive I 1 that the through line may bel be granted than the branch lines which delay the real de elopement elop ment of the uintah basin for years to come |
