| Show UINTAH MINTAH GIRLS HAVE BEST EXHIBIT OF ANY JH IN THE STATE OF UTAH UTA H county again came to the front at the utah state fair this time however it was in the girls club work that she achieved special honor carrying oft off more prizes in the club work than any other county in the state and having the exhibit declared the best and finest in the state had conditions been tavoi able and the proposed plan carried out stella vernou vernon whose home is 13 in maeser ward would have been sent to washington D C with all expenses paid however owing to the scare of 0 spanish influenza the bos boa and girls garla conference at washington was caled off three other girls besides bliss IT cr non carried off the honors for hiu tah and a total of 0 16 first and four couri second prizes the two girl who won the first prize honors in this county were stella vernon and elna cooper their expenses were paid to salt lake and while they were there they were the guests of the state A special committee was wan on hand to 1 entertain 3 ate atala all the delegates of the y various arlous boys and gins iris clubs in the county there was a special program mapped out each day and they were royally entertained they arrived in salt lake monday and were nere entertained until saturday night they were escorted to the various points of interest in tue the city visited several manufacturing concerns called on the governor were personally conducted through the utah state slate fair where the various exhibits were explained to them and to wind it up were taken to two theatres theartres the atres the exhibit of the girls tor for this bounty not only f attracted stata wide attention but also received national recognition two representatives of the tha national club work were in attendance and several notes were taken comment was made on tho the varied uses of honey in preserving and canning fruit and all the articles of fruit in honey waa mas used were turned over to the state to be used tor for demonstration experts declared it the best work they had ever seen the method in which our girls dried fruit and vegetables also proved interesting and the state took these exhibits over also miss vernon took a prize in the home economics section as well as in the girls club work department receiving ia first prize tor for canned fruit next year six toys doys and six girls will be sent instead of two boys and two girls as was aas the case this year the success of club work in ihla ibis county this year raould prove an incentive to better work aau ever next year |
