Show NEW QUARTERS FOR THE PUBLIC LIBRARY vernal women have started plan to raise money to help pity pay rent A number ot of vernal ladles ladies have begun to give a series of belver teas the main purpose of which is in to aid the public library the plan Is to move tho the library to more suitable quarters which will afford more room and better ventilation the present city revenues are inadequate to pay on an increased rent the silver tea idea originated with mrs L R pack who entertained at the home of her daughter mrs L H allan thursday afternoon of last week when a roost most pleas ant and profitable time was wai had yesterday afternoon mrs C A johnson entertained the rooms were artistically decorated with white and pink asters A program of music and reading was given by the following young ladles ladies miss hubbard johnson miss nelson miss miller miss howes and mrs brenner ten of these silver teas are to be given after which there will be a book shower given in ome public hall every continued on vase par 4 NEW QUARTERS poll FOR THE PUBLIC LIBRARY I 1 continued from page 1 body in vernal and in the valley interested in the li 11 biair will be present with rather books or money with chich to buy books badly needed at this time tho the ladies who have agreed to act as aa hostesses in addition to mis pack and mis bohnson are mrs charles demoisy ali mis s L 11 woodard mis J L hayes mrs M N williams mrs L W curry mis ais john N davis mrs L 14 meredith after these ten teas have been given and followed by a book shower there N ill lie bo ten more each lady invited is expected to take with her a piece of silver t S ma dinall 11 or large as she may feel inclined to help out in the payment nf rent of a more convenient building for the library the current cm rent topics club recently contributed 45 this has done a great deal for the library in fact before the city tax was voted and levied the current topics club did more to keep the library alive than any one organization 9 niza tion it will be remembered that the ladies gave gane many entertainments and in addition to the money raised ht t these entertainments the I 1 books of this club were donated to the library the present plan is not a current topics plan though i tambers of the club are in interested Ite rested various vernal women will be invited to help men alen of the city and valley will bo be asked to contribute the present libraty levy of one mill on the dollar seem d insufficient and recently an other half mill was added with this inci oase vase and the on constant ona tant stant increase inci ease of the valuation of city property pio perty it is expected the rev revenues enties N ill i soon hoon le lc laige enough to pay all running expenses the ladies inho ho are in this silver tea i lo io do not want it understood dundei stood that they will keep up the work indefinitely but only until revenues are sufficient |
