Show THE PETTIT ESTATE homestead near whiterocks contested by james kohne who acted as special administrator the homestead of the late joseph A pettit has been contested by james kohne who acted as special administrator of the estate the contest was L i heard in the local land office last wed N aday administrator J G wilkes and attorney james ingebretsen of salt lake were lere acre to look after the interests of the estate hebert acted as attorney for the contestant who set up the claim that the heirs of the late pettit had not made the required improvements since the death of pettit the regular administrator and the attorney claimed that the improvements had been made the claim was also put forth that kohne was not competent to contest the homestead in that he was acting as aa special administrator at the time he field the contest that he was a part of the estate and that he therefore could not according to law file a contest kohne on the other hand claim ned that he be was discharged as special administrator last march the contest was dismissed the pettit homestead is located four miles southeast of the whiterocks indian agency and is valuable A large portion of it is fenced and a few acres have been under cultivation there is a fairly good dwelling on the place joseph A pettit was killed less than a year ago by J J cook at the trial cook entered a plea of self defense and was acquitted the particulars of the killing are still fresh in the minds of the readers of this paper |
