Show SCOTTS SC OrrS PLAN kt kansas congressman wants loo experimental farms of one acre each in every county representative scott of kansas chairman of the house committee on agriculture has conceived a novel plan which he believes if adopted will enable the farmers of the country to produce better and far larger croal crops than heretofore mr scotts scotta proposition involves the establishment of experimental farms of one aero acre each in every county I 1 in in a group of four western agricultural states for the purpose of giving the farmers a practical demonstration of the beat methods of growing different kinds of crops it is proposed that the lands landa for this purpose shall be furnish ed by the farmers themselves and that they do the work of cultivation under the direction of the experts of the department part ment of agriculture no additional appropriation from congress will be required to test teat mr scotta plan it is explained explain epla ind od as the agricultural department now has the requisite number of experts to carry out the plan mr scott declares that enough money is now being practically wasted by the department of agriculture in sending out farm bulletins and other government documents doci ments to carry out his scheme ile he says that much valuable information has haa been developed by the experts in these publications but their contents are so little understood by the farmers that they dont derive the knowledge from them that they should as to the best cultural methods to grow corn wheat hay and the other crops |
