right one of the most important steps in the development of the reservation country since the organization 0 of the dry gulch irrigation company was taken wednesday night it is well known that almost immediately after the opening of the reservation a company known as the dry gulch homesteaders Ini gation and improvement association was organ ased at least the preliminary steps looking toward the organization were taken at that time and subsequently a complete organization was effected the parties who were influential in forming that company were denver and colorado springs people but since binco they have perfected their organization a large number of both colorado and utah people have identified themselves with it their company has secured three water filings one of them known as the jervis filing was among the earliest in the dry gulch district the land coveted by these filings was situated in in the very heart of the district covered by the dry gulch irrigation company it will then be observed that the two companies were conflicting organizations therefore a merging of the two into one was naturally almost imperative the officers of the dry gulch homesteaders ste aders irrigation and improvement association were charles L bailey of denver president john noall of myton vice president two of the directors were charles E hart of myton and mr van harbeck arbeck II of grand junction before coming to vernal mr bailey had visited salt lake city for the purpose of conf converting erting with the state engineer reg regarding aiding the water filings of his hia company ile he then made his way to vernal and summoned hart and noall to meet him here mr hart responded respond cd and he and mr bally baily held a meeting with the board of di of the dry gulch irrigation company wednesday night at that meeting the two companies were me merged rg into one the terms upon which this important move was accomplished were as follows that all filings upon the waters of the reservation now held by the dry gouldh homesteaders irrigation and improvement association will be assigned by them to the dry gulch irrl irrigation company the latter company to issue stock to th present stockholders of the improvement company for it their agreement agie ement on this point is that the assignments with all other papers pertaining thereto together with good and sufficient deeds of conveyance ve shall be placed in escrow at the bank of by the irrigation and improvement association the cei certificates of the stock are to be placed in escrow at the bank of vernal by the dry gulch irrigation company until the agreement is completed at that time the te present members of the homesteaders ste aders As will receive their certificates and the dry gulch iorga tion company will receive assignments and all papers i elating to thea them the members of the dry gulch homesteaders iri in ignation and improvement association shall be gi given gien en credit upon the books of the dry gulch irrigation company foi all money actually expended by them in securing their A ater rights md and other necessary expenditures tures of their organization said accounts to be rendered upon regularly prescribed vouchers of the dry auh gulch h Ii Im gation company ahe improvement association shall have a representation of three members on the board of directors of the dry gnich irrigation company until the first election which is to be held at the proposed new postoffice Post office now kno know n as aa roosevelt in the dry gulch district the gentlemen who were present at this important meeting were J L U holmas J M roseberry george D merkley and G W fell in members embers of the board of directors of the dry gulch irrigation company Chaile 3 L bailee and charles E hart of the homesteaders association and ed F harmston who was as present at the request of the above mentioned officers after the agreement was plans for the future were aleein I 1 eely discussed and the following conclusions reached the present members of the board of directors of the dry gulch irrigation company who are to besign to create vacancies for the representatives of the homesteaders association are hi rum baird of ogden and IL 11 J harding of wichita kansas they have each pledged their M u ord that they would resign to give place to representatives of the denver deliver people whenever the two companies were merged the third place was made vacant by the resignation of vice president J G holmes who nho magnanimously tendered his resignation to create a vacancy for the third representative of the homesteaders association his resignation will take effect upon the return of R S collett for this act he will receive the support of the denver people at the next election mr bailey will be appointed vice president to succeed holmes the new directors will be john noall and charles E hart both of my myton ton the board has pledged itself to adjourn the next election from march IS 16 to may 15 1906 that date being the one which has been set by act of congress as the date upon which the homesteaders ste ate aders must be upon their claims this is done in order to secure a large representation of actual homesteaders at the election all parties concerned are very enthusiastic over the union of the two rival organizations this removes the last barrier to the progress of the dry gulch irrigation company there are now absolutely no adverse claims to the water so from now on the company should progress with rapid strides mr bailey says his associates will join the dry gulch irrigation company without delay ile he left for denver yesterday |
