Twenty girls worked on improving their skills in a volleyball clinic at Uintah Uin-tah High School, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The youngest girl in the clinic was 11 year old Alice Bergfeld. Junior high, high school and college volleyball players also took part in the clinic. The clinic was under the direction of Uintah High School varsitv volleyball coach, Colette Hymas and junior varsity varsi-ty coach, Jackie Parker. "We hit the basics really hard in the clinic such as bumps, sets, spikes and serves. We also went over different types of offenses and defenses," commented Hymas. Hymas added, "We had specialists come in and work with the girls in the clinic. All the specialists were former college players and Uintah volleyball players. Kym Buckalew Robb competed com-peted at Brigham Young University in volleyball and Linda Deans Bartell was a volleyball player at Utah State University. Julie Hacking competed in volleyball at Snow College." "The girls worked on their own specialties. Robb went over defensive moves, dives, rolls, sprawls and also worked on the Chinese drill. She worked on getting the girls used to hitting the floor to get to the ball. The Chinese volleyball team was the first crew to use a drill to get their team members used to hitting the floor," remarked Hymas. "Bartell went over the bump and how to position for it and how to receive a spike and serve with the bump. She also worked some on setting," said Hymas. Hacking went over spikes, dinks and offensive of-fensive hits. She worked on offensive moves, which are used to score points." Awards were presented to a number of the clinic members by coaches, Hymas and Parker at the end of the clinic.
