AAillett leaves Moon Lake Electric for Deseret co-op After ten years as general manager of Moon Lake Electric Association, Merill J. Millett submitted his resignation resigna-tion to its Board of Directors at their last meeting. The resignation is to become effective upon the board's selection of a new general manager. Mr. Millett is assuming the position of general manager of Deseret Generation Genera-tion and Transmission Cooperative which is headquartered in Sandy, Utah. Deseret is a cooperative which was formed by the Utah rural electric cooperatives for the purpose of plann ing and financing the Moon Lake Project, Pro-ject, a coal-fired generating station utilizing Moon Lake's coal reserves in Colorado. Deseret is also negotiating the purchase pur-chase ot 49 ot Utah Power & Light Company's Hunter II plant in Emery County. Since these two projects are vital to Moon Lake's power supply, Mr. Millett will still be taking part in and be concerned with the future of Moon Lake Electric Association. Mr. Millett came to Moon Lake in April 1970 when the Association had operating revenues of $2,491,529, a total electric plant of $15,646,341, 1895 miles of line and 3538 consumers. As of December 31, 1979, Moon Lake's operating revenues were $15,112,219, the total electric plant was $31,491,984 there were 2,663 miles of line and 10,008 consumers. In addition to giving direction and stability to the Association during this period of rapid growth, the merging of Uintah Power & Light Company and Moon Lake Electric, the granting of a certificated territory to Moon Lake by the Public Service Commission of Utah, the moving of the headquarters from Vernal to Roosevelt and the centralizing centraliz-ing of the dispatch center for the system are a few of the many accomplishments ac-complishments realized while Mr. Millett was general manager. |
