Ekswe Emery rad Jerry All red cev school records The Uintah High School boy's track and field team captured third place in the Region 7 meet in Murray, Thursday with a total of 95 points. Murray placed first at 138 and Cyprus nabbed second place at 122 points. Tooele pocketed fourth place. Dave Emery and Jerry Allred set Uintah High School records in the Region 7 Meet. Emery placed first in the javelin and set a new school mark at 187'". Jerry Allred nabbed second place in the 2 mile with a time of 10:20 for a new school record. James of Murray placed first in the 2 mile at 9:37. Uintah's 440 yard relay team, Marty McCarrel, Ron Ellis, Dave Emery and Rick Morton, placed second with a time of 44.4. Kay Smuin placed second in the 400 meter dash at 51.3 and Uintah's mile relay team, Mike Johnson, Rick Morton, Lynn Reynolds and Randy Smuin placed second. Brent Hales nabbed second place in the iavelin. Ron Ellis placed third in the high hurdles at 1.8 and Rick Morton placed third in the 100 meter dash and fourth in the 200 meter dash. Marty McCarrel placed fourth in the 100 meter dash. Mike Johnson nabbed fourth place in the 400 meter dash at 51.9. Kenny Richens netted third place in the 800 meter run at 2:06 and Jerry Allred placed tourtn in nie mne at i:48. Mark Robb placed fourth in the javelin. Roger Griffin placed fifth in the discus and Dave Emery placed sixth in the shot put. Randy Smuin nabbed fifth place in the intermediate hurdles. Fourteen Uintah Utes, Ron Ellis, High hurdles, 440 relay; Rick Morton, 100 , 200, mile relay, 440 relay; Marty McCarrel, 100, 440 relay and medley relay; Jerry Allred, mile and 2 mile; Kay Smuin, 400; Mike Johnson, 400, mile and medley relay; Dave Emery, javelin, 440 relay; Kenny Richens, 800; Randy Smuin, mile and medley relay; Gary Watkins, medley relay; Lynn Reynolds, mile relay; Brent Hales, javelin; Mark Robb, javelin and Roger Griffin, discus, have qualified for the 3-A 3-A State Tournament, which be held at Brigham Young University in Provo, Friday and Saturday. The top four placers in the region meet advanced to the state meet. Griffin qualified for the state meet in the BYU Invitational. "We feel really good that we had 14 kids qualify for the state meet. It's a big improvement over last year when we qualified five. Most of our athletes improved their time or distance in the region meet. We are really plased with Jerry Allred and Dave Emery setting new records, but they might set records again in the state meet and next year," stated Uintah track coach, Rick Phillips. Uimah s tennis team nabbed fourth place in the region tourney. |
