Show Utah Gas Service Co. gets rate increase Utah Gas Service Co., which sells natural gas in Daggett, Uintah, Grand and San Juan counties, has been tentatively ten-tatively granted a 10.01 percent rate increase. The company said its average residential customers will pay an extra $39.97 per year as a result of the rate hike authorized by the Public Service Commission. The PSC will hold a public hearing Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. in its hearing room, 330 E. Fourth South, Salt Lake City, to determine if the rate increase should be made permanent. The $624,751 rate boost will allow Utah Gas Service to pass onto its customers the additional amount it has to pay Northwest Pipeline Corp. and other gas suppliers. The company said pricing adjustments authorized by the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978 have raised its gas costs from $3,749,605 to $4,374,356. Utah Gas Service is disputing portions por-tions of its suppliers' rate increases, and the commission directed Utah Gas to make refunds later if any of the supplier increases are eventually disapproved by the federal government. govern-ment.
