Show i Y L Lr r w wi i 11 I WARRIOR at the 1977 1917 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City City Ci Ci- ty The local horse is being ridden by John Forbes who is on his way off The bucking horse was purchased from Dee Allred by Bill Stevens of the Stevens Bros Local horse makes National Finals Rodeo The red and white pinto bucking horse Warrior performed in the 1977 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City Oklahoma Until last summer the kicking high horse belonged to Dee Allred of Roosevelt a local rodeo producer During the past five years Warrior has pei performed formed many nany times in inVernal inVernal inVernal Vernal and the Uintah Basin Last summer Bill Stevens of the Stevens Bros Professional Rodeo Company of Middleton Idaho became interested in Warrior and others of the Allred horses when he was in Vernal producing the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo in June Several weeks later Stevens Bros rented 20 horses from the Allred string to accommodate the three day Fiesta Days Rodeo in Spanish Fork Warrior was among several head of stock sold to Mr Stevens after the show Horses are nominated for the National Finals by the professional cowboys as they see the stock perform Warrior being nominated for this event after entering the professional circuit so late in the season is a tribute to his outstanding abilities as a bucking horse He was bred and raised for bucking purposes by Mr Allred as were other formerly owned horses that have received National Finals recognition As a year two-year-old the horse was allowed to buck only twice This was a precautionary measure to insure the bucking spirit of the tile young horse was not broken In later years Warrior was part of the backbone of the Allred string A number of local boys have taken a adeep adeep adeep deep seat on the saddle bronc but as rodeo buffs will attest few have seen the end of ten seconds the required time to make a qualified ride |
