Show RAISING raisina turkeys TuB Tuni KEys crys I 1 propose giving i ing g my mode of ira raising ng turkeys it is ia my opinion that banners f a i can rai selm pound of fowl easier and cheaper thana than a pound of pork pock heretofore heretofore I 1 have been unfortunate in in raising turkeys but this season I 1 adopted a different din erent mode a m plan of my own invent invention iol by which I 1 have been very successful others Other may have adopted the same course but not coti i to my knowledge j young turkeys turkey sare are apt to die before they attain to the age of three weeks I 1 came to the conclusion that the fatality i among them was caused by vermin heavy feed and cold alamp weather my methods methodi this season has been this take takuhe the eggs of the first laying ands se set under hens bens the second laying let the turkeys hatch batch two or three days before hatching sprinkle the nest and the fowls thel themselves selves with sulphur when the young were hatched I 1 took a little sulphur gunpowder gun d er and lard mixed and greased greas etol their air heads and ne necks alks to keep 09 the vermin while the young brooded blooded bro oded if it does not remain remain on in eight or ten days put on another I 1 coat mode of feadin feeding I 1 took equal quan thies ties of wheat br bran ad and indian meal and wet vet with sour milk or lapp ered milk j with a good lot of fine cut sheaves once onca in in two favo or three days in with it and feel feed them till a mouth month or six weeks old then lessen the bran feed them early jn rk thera orning to keep them from ram am t tiling bling in inthe the dew such has beeri beeney my method of feeding and management and I 1 have lost loa but bai t two out of forty hatched ducks mari managed in the same way lost three by accidental causes out of thirty five I 1 latched hatched one only died while young chickens in like manner with greased heads and sulphured nests lost three in about sixty this is my mode and rry iry success prairie parmer farmer i i |
