Show TAXPAYERS WORKING FOR MORE efficiency of the beaver unit of tho the utah taxpayers association held n u meeting in the library building tuesday evening W S of the research department of tile the state association was present and ma made do an interesting talk relative to the work already accomplished thru the concerted efforts of the association in the various counties of the state in operation cooperation co with the of officials A of the county schools and cities tile the utah taxpayers association was organized primarily for the purpose of reducing taxation in tills this state As stated by mr the object is not to criticize officials now governing our schools municipal and state affairs but to cooper co oper ate with them in securing more efficient methods in the disbursement of the peoples money ile ho pointed out the benefits being derived fron from the adoption of the budget system anti and explained how a greater and more economical saving may be made by the proper method of arranging their budgets moro more efficient business methods in all matters of expenditures of public hublit funds fund s is urged by tile tho association and suggestions were offered by mr mckendrick Kindrick Mc whereby the adoption 0 these nieth methods would enable counties to lower their tax levies and still maintain a progressive program of road building and public improvement high taxes in the state of utah Is responsible for keeping out capital in this state capital that would invest in the development of our many resources that are now lying dormant with a downward trend of taxation the eyes of the industrial world would lo be turned toward utah where the greatest iron anil coal deposits of the country are practically untouched touched twelve of the twenty nino nine counties ties of the state reduced their tax levies 1 last ast year and this was accomplished principally thru better business management anti and more efficient accounting methods according to figures presented by mr air mckind ricks when the taxpayers demand a more rigorous enforcement of our laws antl and unito in a body to see sao that proper legislation is enacted that will give them full value for their money then it will bo be possible to reduce taxation and at the same time receive greater benefits from the money expended practically everyone tit attending tending tho the meeting tuesday evening joined tho the association A similar aced meeting at milford friday evening resulted in obtaining a largo large number of members and the beaver unit of the utah taxpayers association is now nearly a hundred strong P T gunn charter president of the association in this county tendered his resignation owing to the fact that he is ia an office holder in the county and karl S carlton of milford was elected to succeed him chas B E murdock of beaver was elected vice president of the beaver county unit and samuel 0 white secretary the following were elected officers of tile the beaver city group ot of the unit geo A parkinson chairman joe jackson vice chairman and J C tolton talton secretary |
