I severe illness -- of' two years, of am at present located at Bay City, dropsy. - Mich., where at present we have four Elders. This city has about 65,000 inhabitants, many of whom are Germans. There are some Poles, some French and some Americans; the majority of these are of the Catholic faith. This city is located on both sides of the Saginaw river, and extends over a considerable tract; of most beautiful level prairie. However, it is very low and unhealthy. It is beautifully laid out, at right-angle.Some streets are paved with wooden blocks, which are all of one size. The sidewalks are very shady in the Summer, and make very pleasant walking, as they are paved in nearly all parts of the city. The electric cars are running in every direction ; ono of these running between the cities of Bay and Saginaw, a distance of 18 miles. The Saginaw river is also navigable between there points. Along the banks of this river are piled millions of feet of lumber, which is cut here at the mills arid then shipped to all parts of the world. Timber is not. so plentiful as it used to be, and in a few years will Much of it is cut all he exhau-ted- . on Canadian soil, and is made into large rafts, which contains millions of feet (in the log; ami is pulled over the lakes by a small lug, to the mills, and sawed into lumber. In the Spring there will be erected, in this city, a large sugar factory, and also another laige factory, which will imnufacture baking powder and soda and numerous other things. s. Wages are very low. at diflerent kinds Men work labor for from ten to fifteen dollars a month, and would be glad to work for that if they could only get i It is in this beautiful city that we are at present slaving to show unto the people the plan of life unto salvation; but man today cares very little lor the things of God. We are calling from house to house and are meeting with some success m spreading the gospel, and aie breaking down considtrabie pnjudice ami sowing the go.-ppefd to a people who have never heard Mornmniem preached. The majority of the people are w illingto talk to us, ard we have made a numlnr of friends who are earnestly investigating the principles ot the doctrine of Christ. We have some applicants for baptism. I am enjoying my labors as a missionary. It is indted a privilege which many who have gone before us never had the opportunity of enjoying, and lam thankful unto my Heavenly Father that I am permitted to live and perform such a noble work. Young men in .ion, prepare yourselves for the great and noble work which lies before you; for I am satisfied that if you will only be faithful to the covenants you have made, that the daj is not far away when you will be called into the ministry. Your labor is needed. The harvest is ripe; so prepare - you reel ves.- - L noroetimee wish that I had the voice of an angel, that I could be heard by all people; for I realize that the end is near at hand when the Lord will come and take vengeance upon of el all who know not God. Oh! that men could only realize their condition in life, so that they would repent of their sins and come and be healed; for there is much more happiness in the true worship of God, than there is in all the man made systems of worship of today; for mau made systems perish with men, and only Gods systems (or Eternal systems; will stand for- ever. May God bless Zion and her people, and may' He also bless all the honest in heart. My greatest desire is that God will continue to blees me with health aod strength, and His Spirit, so that I may continue to perform an honorable mission id His sight.
