Show notes EDITOR 00 oo saturday evening last an entertainment was given in our meeting house under the auspices of the Y L M 1 I A the pro gramme was lengthy and consisted of songs recitations several farces and a sacred eacret dialogue with tableau representing the parable of the ten virgins A urge large audience was present and enjoyed themselves very much the pro gramme was well rendered and showed that fiat the iho actors bad been well trai trained ried and prepared for their various parts the entertainment was a decided success and those who had charge of it deserve mui h credit for their efforts A district conference of the Y M M I 1 A comprising mendon endon Nl benson newton clarkston and trenton was held here last afternoon and evening present were pres preg 1 II 11 I A pedersen Pede reeo and elders miller ballif and wright of the stake slake board also a quartette consisting of brothers keller ashcraft wilson and roberts and officers of tha various associations of the district the afternoon session cession was occupied in hearing reports of the associations of benson and trenton and sp speeches by elders miller and ballif A lecture on the life of christ was given by joseph M larson of the newton arso association ci aaion the quartette favored the congregation with two songe song beautifully rendered at the evening session reports were given of the associations of clarkston and newton encouraging remarks were made by elder wright keller and pres pedersen two beautiful were given by the quartette the conference all through was indeed a feast of good things all of the speakers were earnest in their exhortations to the y young oung men to prepare themselves for the important duties which in due time will develop upon upon them and to diligently seek ford for light and kno knowledge cledge concerning the gospel the reports of the various presidents showed that a remarkable rev revival ival has taken place among the I 1 young oung men as a result of the la bore bors of ther the ept ecial sent to work among the associations this thin winter find and that a lively interest is taken in the meetings and that nearly every young youn nun man is now enrolled mys mrs lila dowen bowen of logan is ii visiting aing friends and relatives in newton I 1 mud is plentiful hay bay is scarce health of people moderately good SCRIBE newton feb 1898 |
