| Show APPEAL TO UTAH some matters which ars are of interest to every man ecman and child in the stats state following is from the salt lake lake tribune of wednesday these are days when young utah should be doing some very re t things the matter with them they have it in their power poirer to make utah the mot mort prosperous state in the union to give utah a name to b envied hy by every other state to fix abid things here so BO that it will be a place to be desired or they have the power to stop the present progress to turn back the hopes of the people and to fill fall into the grooves through which they struggled for so BO many years to make of utah one of the in most ost delightful places i they have hut but to be true trite americans it does not require any abandonment of nay any religious duty on their part all they have to do is to be true americans and true patriots it is ie unnecessary to expatiate on the present situation suffice it to say sai that whereas all was peace and hope bope and confidence a month ago no lo v there is a vast doubt and a a 10 feeling eeling of depression on the hearts 0 of f thousands of the people it is for youn utah to d deepen ee pen that depression or to remove it certin certion pro promises prom mires ices were made here five years ago and four years yeara ago ago and three vears vear sago ago and two years ago by lift leaders of the church there is no nothing thino else needed to make utah exceedingly prosperous and to make an exceedingly happy people here except to keep those promises iu in the spirit and letter in in which it was Eup supposed posed they were riven given if there is any any falling away fron what was expected it will be ba for young utah to correct the evil it cops riot not need any special demonstration on their part all that is required is that they shall do the fair thing and the square thing as they have understood it for the last lasit four years we have abundant faith that they will do it their own interests demand it the best beet interests of the state demand it the budding enterprises enterprise in which there ther ewas was so much pro promise mist afew a few days ago affo demand it because utah cannot stand still it is either to go ahead or it is to gp go backward and it will be for young utah to determine t which way it shall go these are days when thir best thought is needed we believe the most of them have reached tb the point when to them the glory of this republic is a personal matter we believe they have reached that point when they are glad that they are americans when all their sympathies and all their hopes hope are linked to together eaber in the wish ill to make of this is ie legion gion the happiest and the most prosperous in the whole union we depend on them and we shall continue to until something may be done to shake our faith they stand pledged to the duty of makiji mak making iii good the promises which have b been een made for this suite state we believe they b have 1 the I ability and integrity to see that that is the right thing and the only thing indeed to keep the state from drifting back where it stood ten lea years ago where there was beart heartburning burning in every heart and when every man was suspicious of the good attentions intentions of I 1 h his neighbors 7 |
