Show FEARFUL ACCIDENT little georgs george painters skull crushed no ho nay may leeover nee over on tuesday evening mr joseph painter accompanied A by his little five year old eon georgi george was traveling toward home from the direction of the fields northwest of town they were ii ere ridin riding r on oil a spring seat beat placed 0 on n top of the double wagon bed meeting Lle eting a team mr painter turned out of the regular wagon road to allow it to pass just after tur turning ning out the front wheels of the wagon suddenly dropped into a ditch the existence of which mr painter did not suspect as it was concealed concen led hy by a heavy growt h of lucerne the occupants of the wagon ta on were both thrown out mr 11 painter going first the wagon ran over his hia body but did not seriously injure him As soon as ho he rose to his feet ile he started after the tha team which had gone only a short distance before he caught it lie ile supposed at first that tile the little boy was in tb the e wagon I 1 but was surprised and horrified to find that one of the lines had wrapped round his body and lie he was being dragged under the wamon wagon 0 ile he quickly stopped the team and released tho the boy raised him up and found that he was terribly wounded in tho the head on the left side of which was a large hole from which blood was rapidly pouring on arriving home nir mr painter summoned dr ormsby who saw immediately that there was war a bad compound depressed pr essed fracture and that the childs life was in great reat danger ile he took what steps were nece necessary sary for the little fellows comfort that night 0 but could not operate on 11 him im until ia are a reaction re ac action t ion had bad ket in un brorn i ormsby called dr snow in for consultation sul tation and assisted by him per formed an operation on the boy con commencing at a point about one and a half inches above and back of the left ear car was the most serious wound tile the skull was not only cracked in ill bever several al directions but the various pieces wore were pressed inward on the brain these carefully raised and one piece was entirely removed further exploration convinced the doctors that the skull was fractured all the way round the forehead the break extending all the way round to the ri right lit temple although the skin on oil the forehead was neither cut or bruised A cut was made extending across nearly the whole width of the forehead the flesh laid back and tile fracture was revealed it was found that the ed edges ae s of the fracture were separated and that a portion of tho the brain covering ing 0 protruded this was replaced the edges brought together and tile the wound sewed up it is evident from tile the nature of the injury that tile alio skull was cracked just as a nut n ut is by 1 great pressure on each side as the skin was only broken and bruised near the temples on each side the roost most remarkable feature of tho the case is that the boy is still alive and appears to be very likely to recover his chances of life im ming korv korving with each hour bour Injuries as ee seve veres as his hie are considered fatal and almost invariably are so if he recovers as there is good reason to think he will his case will be mentioned as a marvelous recovery |
