Show SURGICAL OPERATION. On Saturday last Doctor Ormsby performed a very delicate operation on Harper William Hill, a son of Joseph Hill of Smithfield. The little fellow had been suffering for some time past from a cancerous growth on his left cheek near the eye; and as it was growing very rapidly, the use of the knife was the only remedy. Ether was administered and the growth removed very successfully. What rendered the operation unusually delicate was the close proximity of the excrescence to the child's eye, requiring the utmost care and the lightest touch in order to avoid injury to that member. At present the child is progressing remarkably and a hope is entertained that but a very slight scar will be remaining upon his face after the lapse of two or three years time. |
