Show THANKSGIVING DAY has arrived. Since the last presidential proclamation gave the people an opportunity to take a day for rest and thanksgiving, on year, with its countless events for good and ill, has passed away. Now, once more the nation will offer praise and gratitude to the Giver of all good for the blessings of peace and prosperity. There is much occasion for this. While other countries have suffered from war, famine and pestilence, we have been preserved from the greater evils. While the people of other nations are dreading the coming season, because of the universal want, and the scarcity of food and raiment, the inhabitants of the United States are measurable well provided for. Let the day be one of thankfulness, of charity and happy reunions. |
