Show CITY COUNCIL MINUTES. City Council met pursuant to adjournment. Mayor Wm. (William) B. Preston being absent, Alderman H. K. Cranney was appointed chairman of the council. Prayer by Alderman Davidson. A petition signed by F. Turner, Supt. (Superintendent) of Zion's Board of Trade was presented, asking for the privilege of using part of the sidewalk and street in front of their places of business to exhibit samples of stock, viz: wagons, machinery, &c (etc.). On motion made and carried, petition was not granted, and the Marshal was instructed to see that the sidewalks and streets be kept clear of all similar obstructions. The contract for advertising in the Logan Leader was renewed. The committee on streets and alleys was not prepared to report on communications referred to them at last meeting. On motion more time was given for investigation. The committee on Judiciary presented a bill relating to the extension of old streets, which was referred back to the same committee with instructions to obtain legal advice concerning the matter. A number of bills were presented and allowed. Council adjourned till Wednesday, October 6th. |
