Show DELEGATION TO WASHINGTON. On Monday morning last the delegation of gentlemen selected by the constitutional convention to go to Washington to urge upon Congress the claims of Utah to admission into the Union with the constitution which the convention had framed, started on their journey. It is approaching the season when Congress usually adjourns, and it is hardly to be expected that decisive action will be taken on the question of admitting Utah before the re-assembling of Congress next December. Meanwhile every effort made to gain admission will result in good if the end is not fully gained, while much stronger political events have happened than the admission of Utah into the Union would be. In the meantime we shall await with interest an account of the reception of the delegation at Washington. |
