Show FIRE ON THE ISLAND. On Monday last a small barn, with two tons of hay belonging to Kanute Hansen, on Logan Island, were destroyed by fire. The loss was about $75. The origin of the fire is not known, but is attributed to children playing with matches. Mr. Hansen is a poor man and the loss to him is serious. Mr. J. W. Meley, a neighbor, out of sympathy for him, made him a present of a load of hay as a slight amelioration of his loss. IMPRISONMENT. The convict Herbert Steele, note of whose conviction for the crime of voluntary manslaughter was made in our last issue, was taken before Judge ?? on Thursday morning to receive his sentence, the motion for a new trial being previously denied. The sentence was that he be imprisoned for the term of four years in the Utah penitentiary.-Utonian. |
