Show FEET FROZEN. A correspondent of the Salt Lake Herald writing from Beaver City, Jan. 13th, says: Last evening Mr. Hinckley, of Cove Creek Fort, arrived in Beaver, having in his care a young man who gives his name as Rice, and who had his feet badly frozen the night before, Mr. Rice is a hatter by trade, and has been working in Salt Lake for some time. He was on his way to ??, and left Kanash, Millard County, on Thursday morning, crossing the mountains in an old trail leading to Cove Creek, but not being acquainted with the road he become lost, and wandered about in deep snow until yesterday, when he made his way to the fort. Mr. Hinckley would have taken the man to Fillmore where he rightly belonged, but there being no proper ?? aid there he decided to bring him to Beaver. And to the credit of our county authorizes be it said they took hold of the matter promptly, doing all they could for the poor fellow. The post surgeon of Fort ?? in attendance, and, at present, thinks he may be able to save the feet, but cannot say positively at this writing. Respectfully yours, G. |
