RECENT advices from Gentile Valley state that the weather there has been mild in comparison with what we are enduring here in Logan. THE Logan Leader has lately improved somewhat in typographical appearance, and increased in the interest of its matter. We are pleased to note these evidences of progress.-News. WE acknowledge the receipt of a copy of the Salt Lake Herald's "Annual," a neat pamphlet, brim full of statistical and other useful information. Mechanically the work is a great credit to the Herald printing establishment. THE amateur Brass Band will give a ball to-night. The affair will without doubt be a very enjoyable one. All of the band are acting as a committee and Messrs N. W. Kimball and E. A. Stratford will be floor managers. Consider yourself fortunate if you have received an "invite." IN Richmond recently, two young men, under the influence of liquor, disturbed the school taught by J. F. Gibbs, Esq. The trustees interested themselves in the preservation of the rights of the school, and a complaint was laid before the city justice. Both parties were arrested, plead guilty and were fined. Richmond is a town that believes in good order. A FEW days since we received a pleasant call from W. ??. Webster Esq., the enterprising merchant of Franklin. He has lately taken one of his sons in partnership with him, and the firm will henceforth be Webster & Son. The firm intend to erect a fine brick store, ??, two stories high, next spring. WE learn through Mr. Webster of Franklin that the Co-op. store there ?? declared a good dividend, and that it is doing well. From the same gentleman we learned the particulars of the death of Brother Handy of Franklin, given elsewhere. THE funeral of Miss Sarah Morrell, who died on Sunday last at her residence in the 2d Ward, was held in the Tabernacle and was very largely attended. The long procession of vehicles testified to the esteem in which deceased was held. FRANK LARSEN'S dancing school opens in Cardon's Hall to-morrow, Saturday night. All desiring to take lessons should be present and enroll themselves. Be there by 7:30. After Saturday night lessons will be given to gents only on Wednesday evenings from 7 till 11 o'clock. Mixed classes will be held on Saturday evenings from 8 till 12. Mr. Larsen's terms are very low, only four dollars per month. No charge for ladies at the mixed classes. |
