Show DEATH OF BISHOP E. D. WOOLEY. Shortly before one o'clock a. m. on Saturday, Oct. 15th, 1881, Bishop Edwin D. Wooley of the 18th ward, Salt Lake City, died. He had been sick about a week, and his death was not unexpected. He had expressed a desire to die, and told his family to be composed. Bishop Wooley was born in Westchester, Chester county, Pa., June 28th 1807, and became a Latter day Saint in 1837. He went to Nauvoo in 1840 and reached Salt Lake valley in 1848. He went east on church business the next year, and returned in 1850. He was ordained Bishop of the 18th ward, Salt Lake City, in November, 1853, and held the position until death. Bishop Wooley was a man of incessant industry, of unfaltering faith and a tireless worker in the cause of truth, and in his position of Bishop, he was indeed a father in Israel. |
