Show CHARLES GOOD RECENTLY RE-CENTLY RELEASED IS AGAIN IN JAIL Good Gets the Confidence of Farmer McQuadc and Several Worthless Checks are Passed Both arc now in Salt Lake County Jail. Charles F. Good, who wns recently re-cently released from the county Jail in this city, is again in troublo in Salt Lako city. The cause of his arrest in Salt Lake city is due to being too free In passing checks which were worthless. The other night he become acquainted ac-quainted with II. McQunde who is said to reside in this county. "While the latter was under the Inlluence of liquor Good induced him to assist as-sist in the passing of some worthless worth-less checks. As near ns the police can learn, Good and McQnade started out early Thursday evening even-ing to see the sights of Salt Lake City. They visited various saloons and McQuado was getting n little too much liquor to really know what he was doing, when Good produced several checks and proposed pro-posed that they cash them. Mc-Qade Mc-Qade joined in with the plan readily read-ily nnd as a final windup both were arrested. The two men had checks of the Walker Brothers' bank of Salt Lake. One was made out daynble to Charles F. Good and signed "James M. McQuaid." This piece of paper called for $25. The other checks were as follows: Pay toithe order of Charles Williams, figned by J. C. Bowman; Bill Franks, signed by Charles F. Good, nnd Bill Williams, signed by J. M. Harmon. Here is n funny part of the story: ,1. M. Harmon is the sheriff of Utah county nnd Charles F- tlmt Good has recently been released from the Utah county juil after servinga sentence for same misdemeanor and now he forges the sheriff's name under whose care he was. The men tried to pass the cheeks on several saloons, among which was the Denver bar, conducted by Hill v, Buckland, near the Denver" & Rio Grande railroad depot in Salt Lake. It wns upon the complaint com-plaint of Buckland that the two men were arrested, thoy being taken into custody on Second South street, between Fourth and Fifth West streets. AM)de told the police that he had a wife and family living near Provo and he would rather have his throat cut than have them learn that he was arrested on Buch a charge. lie said that Good had urged him to assist in cashing the checks and he really did not know that he was doiug any wrong. The man was much worried over his arrest, while Good acted very much to tlio opposite. |
