They aro marked by great beautly of design, pome of tho blades being wrought with figures emblematic of tho famous battle bat-tle in Manila bay, while the hilt and scabbard of stool, gold and sllvor are studded with Jewels and highly I wrought marine emblems, such ns Nop-tunos, Nop-tunos, dolphins, mermaids, capstans, anchors, etc. Thus far tho department depart-ment has not taken up the matter of selecting a design. Tho board to so-lect so-lect tho doslgn will probably consist of Acting Secrotary AJJon, Senator Lodgo of Massachusetts, and ono of the professors of tho Annapolis Naval Academy. The samo board will Co-plde Co-plde upon the designs for the medals jvhlch Congress has authorized as a mark of special distinction to all or the officers and crows on the ships taking tak-ing part tn the battlo of Manila. |
