Show CORRESPONDENCE. (The following is verbatim et literatim. Ed.) To the Editor Si George Union-t Union-t No measles Referring to a notice no-tice in your last issue that you had started one of your reporters out on a tour of investigation & after diligent enquiry found that, "it was a mistahe about there being measles at the residence of Hyrum Bryson" your readers should know that your reporter did not maho enquiry in the one quarter where ho could have obtained reliable information in-formation on the subject viz , the Board of Quarantine As your state :uent is liable to cause trouble to persons accepting it as true, I must request you to publish the following appended copy of a letter in reply to one written to me by Mrs. Bryson on the subject "March 2nd 1896- Mrs. Bryson-City- Dear Madam- When you sent me word that your boy had the measles, I wrote suggesting that the proper course was for your physician to notify,.. me If you had adopted my suggestion you would not now be laboring under the idea that you had made a mistake -1 gave you ample time in wlr'ch to consult with him - You did not do so, although al-though I waited until the afternoon cf the following day. At our last interview you were confident that the boy had measles & stated you had been confirmed in that idea by your sister who knew all about it As regards my duties as Quarantine Quaran-tine Physician, unless compelled, it is not for me to act as judge & executioner- In cases of suspicious disease, heads of families should consult their Physicians, who will report to me under the circum- stances I do not feel justified in removing re-moving the flag until the proper period has elapsed Yours truly signed - Frederic Clift " My reason for noticing the paragraph para-graph in your paper is that it should be known that any children mingling or playing with those living liv-ing in or coming from Quarantined Quaran-tined houses, are liable to bo kept out of School & parents & adults to penalties for breaking the quarantine quar-antine laws.
