Show On Saturday, the 11th of September, Sep-tember, 1897, the conjoint meeting of the Mutual Improvement Associations As-sociations of St. George Stake was held in the St. George Tabernacle. Taber-nacle. Present on the occasion Aposlle F.JVI. Lyman and J. G. Kimball, one of the seven presidents presi-dents of the Seventies. There was an excellent turnout of both young and old, and the teachings were of a very encouraging and instructive in-structive nature, which was appreciated ap-preciated by all. On Saturday evening the Stake Priest-hood meeting was held in the same building. The president of the Stake and his council, and most of the Bishops of the Stake were present and good reports were given of the condition of the members of the church in the Stake, and excellent advice was given to the Bishops and presiding presid-ing brethren to carry home to their respective wards. On Sunday morning the Sabbath Sab-bath Schools had an appreciative session and a number of the visit- mg Saints were in attendance and a good many very valuable items were noted by them to carry home to be a benefit to the smaller wards of the Stake in conducting the schools where teachers are scarce and hard to enlist in the Sunday school cause. At 10:30 a. m. on Sunday, the General Conference commenced and continued in the afternoon and on Monday a 1 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. Much good instructions were given of both temporal . and spiritual nature, by Apostle Lyman Ly-man and Prest. Kimball, and also the Presidency of the Stake, and others. The General and Local Authorities were sustained without with-out a dissenting vote. Before the people seperated you could hear with one accord, tho remark that this was one of the best conferences they had ever attended, at-tended, and we trust tho saints will carry out tho good instructions instruct-ions given and profit thereby. |
