The resolution was introduced by' Senator E. H. Snow of this city and has been passed by both branches and has received the governor's approval.. ap-proval.. , It is as follows: Be it resolved and enacted by the ! Legislature of the State of. Utah: Section 1. That the governor be and is hereby auhorized and' directed di-rected to appoint two competent commissioners, by and with the advice ad-vice and consent of the senate, to visit and negotiate with the Arizona Legislature, now in session, for the purpose of obtaining their consent to the -annexation to the State of Utah of that tract of country in Arizona Ar-izona Territory lying north of the Colorado river and the making of the said river, or the breaks of the river, to the point where the said river crosses the Utah line, the boundary line between the State of Utah and the Territory of Arizona. Sec. 2. That for the purpose of carrying this resolution into. effect the sum of $500 is hereby appropriated, appropri-ated, which shall be in full "for the service and the expenses of said commissioners. Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect upon approval. The commissioners named by the governor are E. D. Woolley and Robert C. Lund of this city. Both are able, and competent' gentlemen, and may be relied upon to do everything every-thing possible to ensure the success af the movement. |
