Show June, 14, 189G. Quarterly Conference convened in the Tabernacle at 10 a. m., Prest. D. 1). McArthur presiding. After die preliminary excercises, Prcst. McArthur made a few opening open-ing remarks bidding all welcome to the conference and asked ail to join in seeking for the spirit of i j God, that we may have a time of rejoicing during this conference. John M. Allen, of Toquerville, a returned missionary, gave n report of his labors while on a mission in the Southern States. Said ho had ! enjoyed his labors and found friends to assist him in his labors. There were many who ore honest hon-est at heart and they listened to the testimony of the elders of Israel. Is-rael. ' Brother Bradshaw, of Virgin City, also a returned missionary, had found a number of honest people, and he found that it was the poor who have the gospel ' preached to them, because it is they who received the elders and placed themselves in a position to hear it; as the rich do not listen to the truths of the gospel as taught by the Elders. 12 p. m. Monday, Juno 15, 10 a, rn. Prest. E. B. Snow spoke on the two distinct priesthoods, showing the order of each and the duties of those who hold the same. Prest. A. W. Ivins, of tho Mexican Mexi-can Mission, shid he had been south of St. George among the stock and found that the country is in a dry, barren condition, there being practically nothing for tho stock to eat and .scarcely wafer enough for them to drink. In all his experience in this country lie never saw the country south of here in the condition it is now, and unless the Lord sends us rain to moisten tho earth, there will be heavy losses in the stock interest of this vicinity. He delivered an interesting discourse dis-course on the restoration of the gospel, in this dispensation through the prophet Joseph Smith. Elder James G. Bleak presented the General and Stake Authorities which were unanimously sustained. sustain-ed. 2 p. m. Father Edward Bunker addressed address-ed the conference on the dealings of God with his faithful people, and also his dealings with those who have borne their testimony to the truth of the gospel and after- ' wards denied the same. Prest. I). H.Cannon addressed the ' conference on the gathering i.nd the necessity of keeping records. Elder James G. Bleak delivered a powerful address cn tho records kept by the Latter-day Saints and of their being judged out of the books. Elder Thomas Judd made interesting in-teresting remarks on the gathering of the Saints and also gave somo valuable information on our financial finan-cial condition and showed how our source of revenue is cut off this year, to a great extent, by oar fruit being cut off, and the drouth having made many of our stock so lean we cannot sell them, and asked "how are we going to make up this dificiency?" Prest. McArthur advised all to put the advice given at this conference con-ference into daily practice. He thanked the choir for their success in making music for us at this conference, con-ference, and thanked all that have attended conference for their kind attention.
