Show The Ogden Standard of Mav 26, shows up the ignorance of the Illustrated Amertcan editor, on the money question, to a niceity. The editor in question has been slurring the people of the South and Northwest, because we want free silver; and the Gold-bug editor of the American cant see why the people of the South "should care so much for Silver" when "in the South there are no silver mines." The South, as well as the Northwest, North-west, know that before the country will be restored to its former prosperous pros-perous condition, we must have the free and unlimited coinage of the American silver product,, placed on a parity with gold, at a ratio of 16 to 1; and we wish the Fast and the North were not so much controlled con-trolled by the gold-bugs, so they would have honor enough to admit ad-mit their honest convictions that gold and silver should go side by eide but it is a true saying that '"pride goeth before the fall' and it may be they will have the fall before they can come to an honest money bimetal ism. |
