Show v COTTON; S.EEP OIL, ! According' to reliable authorities, there are fifty-six cottonseed' mills, most of them situated in the south vves-tem vves-tem portion of : the -United "'States. These mills use yearly about 410,000 tons of seedj which, lifter being clean-! sed from lint and husks, and chopped very finej are packed in woolen bogs, placed between horsehair mats and submitted to hydraulic pressure. The expressed oil is either barreled at once or treated with 'caustic soda, yielding about 82 per cent, of purified or 'fine'' oil, The total yield is about 15j000,-000 15j000,-000 gallons annually, of which, it is stated, about 10,000,000 gallons are sent to France, and there mixed with about one-third of olive' oil.- N This mixture is then shipped to alt parts of the world.
