THE VERSATILE TOAST IHTH a good electric toaster, or V a long fork and a grate fire, one ij enjoy such a variety of good lap. It Is surprising what a nam-- nam-- of dishes may be based upon toast i foundation. Toast as toast, well buttered, with iit of marmalade, conserve or jelly i t cupful of tea makes a most sating sat-ing meal. Toasted sandwiches nev-!ose nev-!ose their appeal ; a finger of toast th a small cooked sausage placed :n it and accompanied by a slice nicely, fried apple, Is another meal rth serving. Rarebit mixtures, grat-cheese grat-cheese mixed with cream spread on idwiches and toasted brown, are ays enjoyed. The following are a r of the thousand dishes one may e with or on toast : Chicken Marengo. M up a roasted or stewed chicken 0 sections, but do not bone.
