FARMERS WILL BE ASKED TO JUDGE CATTLE At the Farmers Encampment to be held at Logan July 15 to 18, the State Jersey meeting will be held on Tuesday and the State Holstcin meeting will bo held on Wednesday. Farmers judging teams will be asked ask-ed to judge each of the breeds on the day of the respective meetings. We should keep in miind that Professor Pro-fessor O. E. Many of our cows arc much better in their conformation and breeding than this cow, yet their production is curtailed by Insufficient Insuffi-cient feed and care. We need to think seriously of these things. Here la a concrete example of the possibilities of Duchesne, county cows. Will you have sufficient teed and proper shelter this year to put your herd in the 245 pound class or must border "boarder" around 131 pounds of fat and little more than one half the income return of the cow properly fed and managed. Too we must remember that the feeding and care during the lactations lacta-tions was practically the same. String Str-ing this In another way during tho time the above records were made the feed and care of the cow was Identical. Identi-cal. In the one case she was proper .y fed before beginning her lactation nd In the other a scrub cow wa? -crub fed and managed. Men what story do you get from this study when you apply the lesson to your herd? Must you sell out and get a new herd before you can expect a substantial profit from dairying or must you start with what you have, secure proper seed stock, feed and manage as successful dairymen are doing? |
